The Sunday Refill – 7 Links for Your Weekend (2/12/18)

Seven up…

1) Advent Playlist – Nope, it’s definitely not too early to play those songs now. After all, Advent formally begins today on Advent Sunday (despite 1st December being yesterday). If you’re on Spotify, then this is the playlist you’re after for this season of waiting.

2) Why do we work so hard? – Interesting piece over at The Atlantic.

3) Look Up, Child – A few weeks back I linked to Joshua Harris’ recent statement about his anti-dating book from the late 90’s. This is a really interesting article that looks not at the issue the book covered, but why a book by a 23-year old would have such an influence in the first place.

4) The Day Jesus Said “I’ve Got This” – Wow, what a story. I’m not crying, you’re crying…

5) Stop Deciding Things – Making decisions can be hugely draining. Here’s Chris Green on what we can do about that.

6) The Steward of Middle-earth – I’ve only bookmarked this so far, but by all accounts a fascinating piece looking at the legend of J.R.R. Tolkien and the impact he had upon his own son – as well as his son’s surprising impact upon J.R.R’s legacy.

7) The Story Behind That IKEA Photo of Amsterdam – For something a bit different, we’ve probably all seen it…

“If we could be fully persuaded that we are in the good grace of God, that our sins are forgiven, that we have the Spirit of Christ, that we are the beloved children of God, we would be ever so happy and grateful to God. But because we often fear and doubt we cannot come to that happy certainty.”
- Martin Luther
