The Sunday Refill – 7 Links for Your Weekend (26/2/17)

Here’s this week’s Refill, hopefully with more commitment than the Leicester City boardroom…

1) The Jesus’ Storybook Bible Turns 10 Years Old – Encouraging little piece on one of the most popular ‘kids’ Bibles of the last decade, undoubtedly because it’s also been a great benefit to ‘grown-ups’ too. If you’ve never seen it, this is a great introduction.

2) Sherlock‘s Fourth Season Forgets What Makes Sherlock Holmes the World’s Greatest Detective – This latest season of Sherlock seems to have left many disappointed. This is an interesting take on why that’s been the case.

3) Killed for Christ in the Amazon – Not what you expect to find on the BBC News website video section, but a remarkable look at the remarkable life of Jim Elliot.

4) Your Vision May Not Be What You Think It Is – We’ve been thinking a lot about vision at our church recently, so this challenging piece from Andrew Wilson was timely.

5) Dear Archbishops: What Is ‘A Radical New Inclusion’?  – Since the Archbishop of Canterbury’s statement after General Synod earlier this month, there’s been lots of talk about what ‘radical inclusion’ actually means. David Baker helpfully asks the key questions. You may also like Martin Davie’s helpful analysis.

6) Eight Ways to Read A Lot More Books This Year – Does exactly what it says on the tin.

7) Things I’ve Learned from 2.5 Years of Opening Our Home on Monday Evenings – I loved this. An inspiring read.

“If we could be fully persuaded that we are in the good grace of God, that our sins are forgiven, that we have the Spirit of Christ, that we are the beloved children of God, we would be ever so happy and grateful to God. But because we often fear and doubt we cannot come to that happy certainty.”
- Martin Luther
