If you've been part of a church plant in the last 10 years (in a UK town or city), I’d love your help!

I'm doing a research project looking at the value of lament (what some have called 'the missing spiritual discipline'!) particularly in the rollercoaster ride of church planting

Church planting is often painted as an exciting adventure—bold, faith-filled, and full of possibility. But let’s be honest: it’s also hard, costly, and sometimes heartbreaking. Too often, we focus on the triumphs while brushing past the struggles, disappointments, and griefs that come with the call. My research explores how lament—a biblical but often neglected practice—can shape healthier, more honest church planting. I’d love your insights!

Whether you've led a plant (pastor, elder, leader) or been part of the planting team/congregation, I'd be massively grateful if you'd take a few mins to fill out one of these two surveys. It’s quick, anonymous, and will really help get a better understanding of the challenges we all face in planting churches - and hopefully help us better prepare and resource church planters and plants.

Thank you! And if you have friends who fit the bill, feel free to share this page! Let’s get some honest reflections out there. Thank you so much!

I'm also on the look out for a handful more church planters to share 45 minutes of their time for a more in-depth Zoom interview. If you'd be up for that, please let me know!
