The Advent Sunday Refill (1/12/24) - 7 Links for Your Weekend
Seven up...
1) The Christmas Build-Up - Faith in Kids know that in this busy season those with families can often feel that time is fraught. If you've never done a family Bible time together, this is a great place to start. Each day there is a simple thought from the Bible, something to talk about together and a digital sticker so you can build up your very own nativity scene. All you need to enjoy The Christmas Build Up is a device and the internet!
2) Assisted Dying Bill Passes: How Did We Get Here? - Glen Scrivener reacts to the assisted dying bill that passed in the Commons on Friday. As many said, it was truly a Black Friday. Peter Ladd at CARE said, "Something has changed about Britain today." Indeed, The Times were unequivacal in their similar editorial, Rubicon. Liberal Democrat MP and Christian, Tim Farron, also called for people not to back away. It's also been fascinating to see the way that 'religious belief' is considered to be effectively illegitimate as a rationale for holding a position.
3) Advent Devotionals at PrayerMate - Including LICC's 'Down to Earth' and some old devotional on Ruth that you might have come across before...
4) 'The Nativity: Fact or Fairytale?' and other resources - The good folk at the international biblical research centre, Tyndale House, have put together a great resource page for the historicity of Christmas, including a new video interview with Peter Williams.
5) Advent - How I need it! - Yes and amen!
6) Orthodox and evangelical churches grow as ‘fringe’ Christianity declines - Religion Media Centre reports on a Theos-hosted discussion panel this week.
7) Matt Redman - When We Behold (In Excelsis) [Live] - I love discovering new music at this time of year. I've been enjoying this from Matt Redman & Jon Guerra. You can also sign up for TGC's Advent playlist here.
