Seven up...

1) The Rise of Cultural Christianity - Madeleine Davies writes at the New Statesman with an in-depth look at the place of Christianity in the public square and the nooks and crannies of British culture in 2024. Well worth reading.

2) Growing Up in the Pastoral Spotlight: Insights into the lives and wellbeing of Ministry Kids - with Valerie Ling - This is an Australian interview that comes on the heels of the publication of a 'Ministry Kids Wellbeing Survey'. Ling was involved in the research and explores the broader impacts of pastoral life on children, including expected areas like displacement and mobility, but also an acute awareness of 'adult realities'.

3) 10 Kids. 0 Phones. 1 unsupervised camping trip. What could go wrong? - I enjoyed this reflection from Catherine Price about a recent 'experiment' featured in The Sunday Times, where a bunch of teenagers were invited on a phone-free adult-free camping trip.

4) Friendship on the frontline | Imagining a delight-full embrace of the world - I'm looking forward to reading the other pieces in this series on the significance of friendship, not least as part of God's mission to the world.

5) Six Times We See the Heart of Jesus in Action—and What It Means for Us - Dane Ortlund's Gentle and Lowly is a remarkable book, not least for how popular it has been across such a breadth of Christians since is publication in 2020. I'm delighted it's been repackaged and edited for 'Young Readers, New Christians, and Seekers' as The Heart of Jesus: How He Really Feels about You. This brief article is a lovely sample.

6) New Back to School Kids' Song from Awesome Cutlery - In the UK, we're about to have the final week of the school holidays. If you're looking for a song to share with Christian families at church next Sunday, which also doubles up as a simple rhyming prayer they can share, then look no further! It releases next Friday (perfet for church next weekend), so if you want to pre-save it on Spotify then use the link above.

7) Ten Visuals that will make you a better reader - For something a bit different, these are great!
