Seven up...

1) Young adults: God is on the move - This is an encouraging report from John McGinley about The Send, which seeks to see a mighty move of God amongst the 'lost generation'.

2) How Workplace Culture Can Benefit from Improv Comedy - In a world that often champions the value of technology, what if our workplaces could be bettered by the creative process? This is a stimulating and fun listen.

3) A Flavour of Part of the Legacy of Richard Garnett - Richard Garnett was a professional actor in TV, film and theatre, who then founded a communications consultancy. After a decade of suffering with mesothelioma, he died this past week. With a passionate Christian faith, Richard generously also gave many, many hours to training pastors and clergy in the communication side of preaching. I remember well a week spent with him in north London one summer where he pushed us out of our comfort zones and in doing so helped form us as heralds of good news. I think every talk I give has been shaped by that week.

A few weeks ago he recorded a remarkable podcast, Generous Living in Preparing to Die, hosted by his friend Simon Guillebaud - check it out on Spotify or Apple. I was also directed to two poems written and recorded by Richard, which are a precious listen: When You Stand Like a Tree and When You Run Your Race. Thanks to James Robson for sharing these.

4) Writing to Stay Awake - On the Pastoral Art of Attention - As a dad and a writer, I appreciated this. It's so easy for us to starve our days of attention.

5) Kidnapped by Al Qaeda: The Australian doctor held captive for seven years in the desert - I had the privilege of hearing Dr Ken Elliott and his wife Jocelyn interviewed live at last year's Keswick Convention. Having been held captive by Al Qaeda for seven years in Burkino Faso, Ken was released only a few months before. In this recent video from ABC Australia, the Elliotts now share their story on broadcast TV for the first time.

6) 10 Tips for Pastors Visiting Someone in Hospital - So much pastoral wisdom in this short tweet.

7) Influencers After a 1 Hour Social Media Break - For something a bit different, Jonathan Ogden makes beautiful music. But he also can create a very funny short video...
